Newbury Town Council invites you to the Town Hall to view the exhibition of Susan Clark. Susan is a self taught artist from New Hampshire in the U.S. She has been drawing and painting for over 30 years and finds inspiration in the landscapes, architecture and culture of her native New England. Her primary medium is acrylics but she ventures into water colour and pen and ink as well. Her influences are the artists Edward Hopper, Norman Rockwell and the Wyeth Family. Read more

Displays from The King’s Troop and Royal Artillery, a ‘de Havilland’ stream flyover and Spitfire air display. Come and meet ‘Joey’ from the War Horse National Theatre stage production. Plenty of entertainment for the whole family, with an army assault course, paint ball, Batak and climbing wall, fly in a Typhoon simulator and ride on traditional Victorian fairground rides. Enjoy a cuddle with the Royal Army Dogs and hear the roar of 90 motorbikes from the Royal British Legion Riders Branch. Read more

As part of the Council's Lights on Bikes event we will be running another cycle treasure hunt starting from Newbury Library between 10am and 2pm. As with the previous hunts, turn up at the library, collect a map and the clues and cycle off to find the answers. This Saturday we are exhibiting work by Newbury Embroiderers' Guild. They have worked on group projects, about the Kennet and Avon Canal, a 3D project, and they are currently involved with the Embroiderers' Guild Olympic Postcard project. In 2010 Newbury Embroiderers Guild completed the five panels now exhibited in West Berkshire Community Hospital. The embroidery depicts the buildings of the old and new hospital and the people that make up the hospital community. This embroidery came about because they had made four large banners depicting native flowers of the British Isles as a gift for a sewing school in Mozambique. Before they were taken to Africa they were exhibited in the main corridor of the Community Hospital. They generated so much interest that the hospital commissioned an embroidery of their own to replace them. Read more
