People living in Newbury are being invited to pack up a picnic and join the Big Lunch at Newbury Racecourse on Sunday 19th July. The event, jointly organised by the Corn Exchange and Newbury Events manager, Caroline Paus will feature street games, circus skills workshops, face painters and musicians and gets underway at 12-3pm.
Entry is free to the Racecourse, where the Dubai Summer Festival will be in full swing. The Big Lunch will be outside the Pavilions near car parking facilities and well signposted on the day.
The Eden Project initiative began after research showed that ninety-seven per cent of neighbourhoods are more fragmented than they were 30 years ago. A spokesman said, “We just don’t gel the way we used to, isn’t it crazy that 10 million of us are networking regularly online yet we barely know who lives next-door? The Big Lunch is your excuse to get to know your community.”
If you’d like to get involved or want to more information, please contact Caroline Paus on 0845 003 9953 or email caroline@newburyevents.co.uk.
