It's all go for Newbury's new event manager

Friday 15th May 2009

Caroline Paus takes up her post as Newbury events manager on 18th May.
As a local resident and former BBC & Meridian TV producer, Caroline has a deep knowledge of local issues.  She has also contributed to the Newbury Weekly News Out & About magazine and Business Yearbook and is a committed supporter of local charities.

Speaking about her appointment Caroline said, "I am absolutely delighted to have been chosen for the role of Events Manager. Newbury is such a vibrant, unique market town with a rich history. I am really looking forward to working closely with all members of the Town Centre Partnership, from the smallest to the largest retailer and organisation, in order to help them make the best of their town centre location."
As well as working to better promote and support existing events such as the Carnival and Newbury Comedy Festival, Caroline will also work on developing more frequent events.  With a strong background in media and communications, organising high profile events and media coverage for national companies such as Vauxhall Motors and B&Q and as well as local companies, Charter Travel and Floyp Media, Caroline hopes to get the message out that Newbury is somewhere with a great deal going on and a lot to offer visitors and shoppers.
TCP chairman Liz Chandler said of the appointment "We are delighted to have appointed Caroline, who brings a great range of skills and enthusiasm to this role, building on the work of Liz Large over recent months. There are so many exciting developments in the town, and with all the challenges facing local business there couldn't be a more important time to have someone focused on events that will bring people into the town."
Work is already underway to promote several new events including a regular speaker's corner and 'buskers' slot. July and August is shaping up to be a busy months with a range of events in the market place, including outdoor theatre fresh from London's South Bank.
