Winners announced of Newbury’s Best Dressed Shop window competition

Sandwich shop, Panousha Baguettes has been voted this year’s winner of Newbury’s Best Dressed Shop window competition. Delighted owner Tracey Gerayesh was presented with a trophy by Newbury Racecourse’s marketing manager Lisa Ward and Business Manager; Ros Comins presented a cheque for £200 from Newbury Building Society. The winner will also receive a free advertisement in the Newbury Weekly News. Tracey said she worked up until 8.30pm last Thursday putting the finishing touches to the display which incorporates deer and a heart shaped wreath of berries and poinsettia. “I’m absolutely thrilled, all our customers have told us they love the window and it’s nice to see the children’s faces as they go past the shop.”
Second prize of entrance and meal for six at Newbury Racecourse was awarded to the RSPCA shop in Cheap Street. Lorna Holmes said “I wasn’t sure at first whether we had the time to enter and then I spent five hours organising it all, I’m absolutely delighted, it’s fantastic, what a Christmas present!”.
There was a tie-break for third place which was jointly won by Hethertons Kings Coffee House at the Broadway and Camp Hopson.
Judging took place on Friday when the Major, Kuldip Singh Kang, Brian Burgess of the Newbury Retail Association and John Hampson from the Newbury Weekly News toured the town, helped by comedy act, Gran Turismos . Mr Singh Kang said, “There was a very high standard of shop windows, so much effort had been put into the displays but we were unanimous in our choice.
