Fall in Love with your Market
People in Newbury are being invited to get to know and fall in love with the Charter Market during a special Valentine’s Event.
Opera Singer Richard Stark and French comedienne and accordion player Frankie Chalet will be joined by Mime artist Richard Knight to entertain shoppers visiting the Charter Market on Thursday 11th and Saturday 13th February.
People will also have the chance to win a Market hamper packed full of seasonal produce and children will be invited to ice their own Valentine cookies. On Saturday customers will also be able to purchase a voucher for £3 entitling the bearer to buy goods at any stall at the market worth £5.
Chair of the Market Working Group and Councillor Martha Vickers said “We’re very lucky to have such a wonderful market here in Newbury, if you’re a regular shopper then this is a thank-you from traders and if you haven’t visited the Charter Market then this may tempt you to get to know and fall in love with it as it offers so much.”
Newbury Events manger Caroline Paus has been organising the event with Newbury Town Council Services Officer Caroline Edmunds. Mrs Paus said, “There’s so much variety with a wonderful selection of fresh produce, from meat and fish to eggs, bread and olives and household goods and jewellery. The traders turn out in all weathers so hopefully this event will put the Market on the map and more people will realise what a great asset it is for the town”.
