Newbury Racecourse is located in the town of Newbury in Berkshire. Races have been held at Newbury since 1905. Newbury describes itself as “one of the UK’s leading horse racing venues with a range of contemporary facilities to enjoy during your visit”. Notable races are usually held on Saturdays between the months of February and December.
Newbury’s well known and prestigious Lockinge Stakes is a one-mile Group 1 flat race for horses four years and older. The event started in 1958 and is significant due to the fact that many of the leading horses go on to compete in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot Racetrack. This year’s event will be held on Saturday May 16th. Tickets will be hard to come by, so it’s important to purchase in advance.
Newbury offers 5 areas for race viewing. The Hampshire, Berkshire, and Grand Stands all offer their own unique view of the track along with dining, drinking, and entertainment. There are also opportunities the view the races from the Copper King Lawn and Crafty Filly Terrace.
Ticket packages with group discounts are available throughout the year. Half price ticket deals are available for selected events along with free tickets for kids and birthday guests.
Six membership packages are available. The 1905 Club, Flat Season, Weekender, Club 24, Full, and Jump memberships all give guests the opportunity to purchase bundles of tickets at a discounted rate and enjoy the benefits and facilities available only to track members.
Three restaurants are available for guests to dine. The Hennessey offers a fine dining experience, Racegoers Restaurant offers a “lively atmosphere”, and The Brasserie offers casual brunch, lunch, or afternoon tea.
Getting to the racecourse is an easy task as the track is easily accessible and conveniently located in the center of the South of England. The course also has its own railroad station. The stop is the first after Newbury.
