Newbury Racecourse

nraceNewbury Racecourse is located in the town of Newbury in Berkshire. Races have been held at Newbury since 1905. Newbury describes itself as “one of the UK’s leading horse racing venues with a range of contemporary facilities to enjoy during your visit”. Notable races are usually held on Saturdays between the months of February and December.

Lockinge Stakes

Newbury’s well known and prestigious Lockinge Stakes is a one-mile Group 1 flat race for horses four years and older. The event started in 1958 and is significant due to the fact that many of the leading horses go on to compete in the Queen Anne Stakes at Ascot Racetrack. This year’s event will be held on Saturday May 16th. Tickets will be hard to come by, so it’s important to purchase in advance.

Newbury offers 5 areas for race viewing. The Hampshire, Berkshire, and Grand Stands all offer their own unique view of the track along with dining, drinking, and entertainment. There are also opportunities the view the races from the Copper King Lawn and Crafty Filly Terrace.
